i am here now, bitch!

... ummm, not really...

clodomiro was here. arnulfo was here. brancusia was here. anacleta espiripitulfa fortunata perez perez was here.

it's funny how the '[insert your name] was here' phrase originated. ok, the story refers to 'kilroy was here,' which apparently is fairly popular in english but i've never heard that before. and, in any case, i did hear a similar story before, so i will assume it's true.

it also makes me think of that one conversation i had in a kitchen in a house in the pittoresque commune of corenc one saturday evening with moeke, after i came back from a stroll downtown. before i left the house, i had written on the kitchen's board, "je suis allé en centre ville. je reviens vers 19h." (i went downtown. i'll be back around 7pm.) upon my return, moeke pointed out that what i had written on the board was wrong, since i had not gone downtown at the moment i wrote the message. when i wrote the message, i was still at home, and yet i wrote "i went downtown."

since the incident happened early in my first year in france and i barely spoke french, i didn't feel like i could argue. however, i still wonder whether she actually meant that or whether she was just pulling my leg.

but i AM here now. i don't know for how long, though.

do you see me?
